Understanding the long term effects of pot use.I see many clients who are struggling with marijuana addiction. While this is very different from an addiction to more extreme narcotics, the reality of West Coast culture is that some people struggle with pot addiction which can seriously impact their lives. This is not the case for everyone. Just as some people can enjoy a glass of wine every night and not be described as alcoholic, so others are able to have a joint now and then, and function perfectly normally. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. For many people, after years of use with no particular side effects, suddenly things change. They start to experience at first occasional, and later more common bouts of anxiety. They begin to get sweats and fever now and then. Some men experience erectile dysfunction. Basically, the body begins to respond negatively to pot. Side effects can be many and varied. For the average user, their first response is to think, it’s something other than pot. How can it be the pot, after all? I’ve done it for years! Well, the answer is simple enough. The way we assimilate toxins, and their impact on us, changes as the years go by. At age 40 your body handles toxins very differently to the way it did when you were twenty. Have you tried going out on an all night binge the way you did as a twenty two year old – when you are 45? Take it from me, it’s not a good plan. With these things in mind, I work with many clients to either eliminate or moderate their pot use. Make no mistake, it can be a serious issue and have massive affect on your life. It does not have to, and it can be brought into a place of moderation. Give me a call for further information. General information about pot addictionPot addiction has the same characteristics as any other addiction to other drugs including alcohol, tobacco or even caffeine. The frequent obsession with the drug, thinking about it all the time, where to get it, when to get it, is there enough, is it good enough, will I have the money for more are frequently asked questions. Another trait of marijuana addiction is the physical craving that comes when the body adapts to the drug and begins to develop a tolerance to it. Anyone who has been smoking marijuana for awhile can tell that they must smoke more now to feel the same effect that just a few hits used to produce. It's not about the quality of the weed, it's the bodys defense mechanism as it readjusts to keep balance with the frequent supply of new chemicals being delivered by the pot. If you are experiencing increased anxiety, sweating and sleeplessness then you probably need to give me a call. I help many clients with this issue and before long you will feel like a different person.
