Where will you train:

Vancouver Hypnotherapy Inc. provides a professional environment in which to deliver the finest quality hypnotherapy training. Your training takes place at 720, 999 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC. You train in the heart of Vancouver's medical district.

When are courses offered:

Most of our courses are conveniently offered at weekends, when you are available to study even if you are fully employed. While the class room time is scheduled at weekends, we do expect you to start practicing with subject almost immediately, and you will need to set aside about one evening a week for working with volunteers, right from the start of your training. We expect a fairly rigorous level of extra curricular practice and students should be prepared to commit time to working with each other, outside of classroom time.

Course Content:

Drawing on the Technical Hypnotherapy Association curriculum we provide the content required to be able to practice clinical hypnotherapy in a beneficial way for your clients. We teach techniques of hypnosis that are far more advanced than some other training institutions offer. We do this in the absolute belief that the best hypnotists are the ones that go out and use it everyday. We give you the tools to do so.

Our students learn more in their first three months of training than an IMDHA course teaches in a year. Our students work intensively on their skills, and are expected to participate in many extra curricular activities - refining and extending their abilities throughout the time they train.

Our training prepares therapists for real world situations. We have always specialised in addiction, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and phobias. As a result our training is focused on these areas, to bring new therapists into the workplace with viable skills. Our training is not metaphysical in nature. We are not psychic healers - there are other places for that. Unlike other hypnosis training systems, we rigidly apply some acceptance criteria. If you fail to meet these, you will not be accepted for this training.

Certification:

We have a well established history in hypnosis training. Our online training for advanced hypnotherapists has been available for the past three years and has helped hypnotherapists from the UK, US, Canada, Spain, Australia and South Africa, and has helped therapists upgrade their skills to advanced levels. As a result of our expertise in this field, we have been consulted by organisations world wide, including UBC and the University of Cork, in Ireland.

Our courses are held at weekends. Generally a course consists of three weekends (one a month for three months). So, by spending one weekend a month in class, you still get plenty of time to practice or study between sessions. To become a proficient hypnotherapist, you will need to complete three courses - Practical, Theoretical and Clinical Hypnotherapy.

You may find this gives you a feel for the nature of the classes and how very thorough our training is. We embrace methods of hypnosis that are not covered by other hypnosis training institutions and go far beyond the simple Ericksonian techniques taught in other schools. Our techniques are substantially more advanced and applicable to therapeutic applications.

Some advanced candidates go on to work as interns within the clinical environment before progressing to set up their own practices. Our approach is a technical one, and focuses on the use of hypnotherapy as a healthcare modality. We follow the internationally recognized curriculum of the Technical Hypnotherapy Association.

Our training is practical and down to earth in nature. We avoid metaphysical course content, although we see its value. Principally, we train therapists in Technical Hypnotherapy skills, designed to help their clients combat Anxiety, Addiction, Eating Disorders, Phobias and Depression. Our course grew out of the unmet need for hypnotherapists with well grounded practical skills.

All hypnotherapists at Vancouver Hypnotherapy work to a specific standard. Our training has grown out of this standard. It provides a proven set of treatment practices that will set any new therapist aside from other training, in non operation clinics. Our training follows the standards set out by the Technical Hypnotherapy Association.

Training in a therapy clinic

Because we run a busy clinic, we are able to provide hands on experience, and some therapists are offered the opportunity to further their training by interning with the clinic. These spaces are limited and are only offered to the highest achieving therapists.

Part Time Clinical Hypnotherapy Courses

There is a registration fee of $200 with your first course. All prices exclude HST.

Our part time courses meet one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) each month and teach you all you need to know about hypnotherapy. The courses are designed to set you up to competently perform the tasks of a Clinical Hypnotherapist. The opportunity to undertake an internship may be offered to some graduates.

The hours of the course are as follows: Saturday 10.30 am - 5 pm, Sunday 10.30 am - 6 pm. We break in the middle of the day for an hour for lunch. The course requires some homework time to be allocated. Great hypnosis is the result of great practice.

The course includes the use of some technical methods developed at Vancouver Hypnotherapy Inc., and not available elsewhere. Additionally we train our candidates to use data systems developed by Vancouver Hypnotherapy for the tracking and measurement of their clients' success - allowing them to provide ongoing standards of support. These are aspects of training not provided by standard hypnotherapy schools.

Certification.

Vancouver Hypnotherapy Inc. is registered with the Technical Hypnotherapy Association. Although there is no official certification body for hypnotherapists in North America, there are a number of membership organisations. It is important to note that the membership criteria for most of these organisations consist only of the payment of a fee. Our training allows certification from the Technical Hypnotherapy Association. The membership requirement is based on the submission of five successful case studies, using Technical Hypnotherapy techniques. These case studies are subsequently reviewed by existing members and then filed in the Association database if assessed as qualified. As a result we meet the strictest credetialing criteria in the business.

What are the acceptance criteria? What are the membership benefits?

THA Certification is dependent upon a proven quality of therapy being delivered.

THA benefits include:

1. Access to THA case studies.

2. Participation in THA research projects (including ongoing 5 year follow up of your clients, with monthly reports).

3. Approved use of THA logo as a quality standard within your website.

Membership of the Technical Hypnotherapy Association.

Graduates of Vancouver Hypnotherapy are invited to join the Technical Hypnotherapy Association. This is a world wide body endorsing hypnotherapists working to the highest standards. The Association manages research data and client follow up data for its members. This is a unique service and underwrites the client management in your practice. Once clients have completed treatment they are contacted after 1 month, three months, six months, one year, two years, three years and five years to check that they continue to manage their situation well. The data resulting from this system is emailed to your practice monthly. No other certification body offers this level of research into clients. Access to this data service is a benefit of THA membership. Hypnotherapists accepted into the Association are expected to pay a $10 monthly fee. Learn more about Technical Hypnotherapy here.

Acceptance Criteria.

Applicants to this course are required to meet certain standards. These standards are rigorously applied and there are no exceptions to them.

1. You should be physically fit.

2. You should be a non smoker.

3. You should have a standard of physical health that allows the practice of Techincal Hypnotherapy.

4. You should successfully complete an interview to assess your suitability.

Reasons for possible exclusion.

We have denied access to this course to individuals who would not meet the rigorous standards laid out by the THA. We have denied access to this course to members of the US military. No individual with an existing alcohol or narcotic addiction is invited into this course.

Why the exclusions? We remain at the top of this business by maintaining high standards.
